What happens when we parent like we garden?

Peace is Your Superpower

July 2, 2023

With my kids grown and independent, life has quieted down a lot.  My pace is slower and I find myself having a lot more space.

I remember the days when I couldn’t catch my breath running around from carpool to practice to homework to dinner longing for more space.

And I am enjoying the space. Loving it actually.

I have more control of my day and my time and far fewer interruptions.

All the rushing and the chaos is gone.

I have found so much peace in all the empty space.

This morning everyone is home for the holiday weekend, which I am so excited about, however my sacred peaceful routine is getting a kick in the pants 🙂. Lots of interruptions are occurring and I am noticing some agitation arising.

So it’s got me thinking about my so-called peace.

I do a great job of being at peace when I am meditating or on retreat or when no one is home.

However, the minute someone or something “disrupts” the quiet, I notice I get annoyed.

Ha! So much for my piece of peace.

Where does peace actually come from anyway?

It seems I have confused myself believing that my “circumstances and conditions” were the reason I was at ‘peace’.

My favorite teacher, Thich Naht Hahn says, Peace is in every step.

Which reminded me that like anything else, it starts within.

Peace is not in my meditation or on my retreat.

Peace is inside of me and while it is easier to locate in the solitude and quiet, my meditation practice helps me remember that all I ever need is right inside of me.

I can find peace in the chaos.

I can find peace in the noise.

I can find peace in the arguments.

I can find peace in the disruptions.

It is always available.  All I need to do is remember.

If you ever struggle with keeping your peace, I’d love for you to join me in The Meditation Salon. I’m hosting at 8am the first Sunday of the month for a simple and brief practice to help you remember where peace lives in you.

HERE IS THE LINK TO REGISTER FOR FREE.

Come plant a seed of peace with me and watch it grow all around you.

Looking forward to seeing you in the Salon.

Much Gratitude,

Annmarie Chereso
Author, Speaker, Coach, & Meditation Teacher

“Annmarie helped me move from the unconscious to the conscious in my parenting. By looking at stuck patterns that warranted the same undesired results, Annmarie helped me become more aware of not only my kids behavior but my own. Because of her, I was able to shift out of auto pilot and create meaningful change for the whole family.”
