What happens when we parent like we garden?

A Radical Act of Generosity

December 24, 2023

Wherever you are, may these words expand your capacity to love today.

I’ve been told this prayer is performed each morning by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and I thought you might enjoy it as well.

Prayer of the Bodhisattva

May I Protect those without Protection

May I be a Guide Leading those upon the Path.

May I be a Boat, a Bridge, a Ship…

For all of those Who Wish to Cross the Waters

May I be an Island for all of those…

In Search of Land

May I be a Bed for those who Need Rest

And May I be a Lamp for those Who need Light

In this Way May my Life

Aid in Reducing the Amount of Pain

And Suffering

And Sorrow

In the World.

~Shantideva, Indian Buddhist sage, 700 A.D.

When we take this time to be still and care for ourselves, we are giving a gift to those we love and are close to: our neighbors, co-workers, community, and the world. 🌎

This radical act of generosity is the only gift we truly have to give, and it lives within each one of us

Wishing you and yours all the joy of the season.

With gratitude,

I consider Annmarie not only a friend but a guide on my own parenting journey. She always lends a perspective or offers advice that calls on me to get conscious, release my own fears, and parent in a way that empowers my children to succeed and make smart decisons.
