Get Grounded and Rooted

It’s spring once again in Chicago and our city garden is top of mind. We are in the process of making sure all the conditions are just right for a summer of bloom.
It has taken time to get it just right.
We spend time making sure the conditions of the soil are at their best, that we plant the right seeds in the right sun/shade combination and that we manage the weeds when they arrive as they do every year.
Each year our garden grows richer and more abundant than the last and every year we all find so much joy in the growth.
I’ve always thought of parenting like a gardener might think of one’s garden.
As a parent, my priority is to create the conditions for each one of my kids to thrive.
My practice is to create the conditions for their individual thriving which require me to be fully present and grounded in all my parenting moments.
In the business of everyday life, it is not always easy to stay grounded in the present moment. I love to drop into this meditation to help get me rooted (grab it HERE). Try it for yourself.
When you feel grounded and stable in your body and mind, your kids do too.
