Depression or Expression, You Choose

July 30, 2023

I had a bit of an emotional morning.

I had a decision to make. While I wasn’t fully aware of it, I was navigating some fear around making it.

I spoke to my husband about it and he asked me a few key questions that unlocked some big emotions that I had no idea were lurking under the surface.

Tears flowed without resistance. (this is a learned skill btw!)

Instantly the answer to my decision became available to me.

I acted on the decision and then something magical happened.

(Well ok, maybe not so magical…but it sure felt good.)

As soon as I pulled the trigger on the decision, I became super inspired, creative and productive.

Once I moved the heavy weight of fear, all my energy, creativity and aliveness came rushing through to meet me.

This is the magic of being fully expressed.

Here is the deal my friends.

In the absence of expression you create depression.

When you are fully expressed you open up the pathways to creativity, inspiration, motivation..your aliveness.

It requires a lot of energy to hold your emotions in.

Imagine holding a few beach balls under the water while treading water. This is what it is like holding our emotions and feelings in all the time.

Which is why building your self-awareness muscle is so important.

When you are in flow and allowing ‘what is’ to move through you naturally like a newborn baby does, your creativity is free to be fully expressed.

You do not have to work hard to be creative, productive, inspired, or feel connected to yourself or the people you love, you simply need to work hard to NOT hold back your authentic feelings, and emotions.

And this too is a practice.

Don’t sell yourself or the world short of your creativity. Get into the practice of being aware of what is holding you back.

In love,

“It was a privilege to be part of the group of parents in the Conscious Parenting Group led by Annmarie. Annmarie created a powerful and safe space that led to an intimate community committed to supporting each other. I saw women open up and share their most intimate struggles and move in a concrete way toward change.

Annmarie invites you to create a vision for what you want as a parent and in your family.

And she has a gift of taking radical responsibility for her actions and decisions and she helps each participant do the same. We worked on our feet, taking the risk of enacting and practicing the change we want to see.

To take the time to be present with the group and yourself in the effort to be present and alive as parents is a gift to yourself and your family.“
